Hello, I'm Sarah and I am passionate about the creative arts, and the sense of well-being it can evoke. Mosaics is an artform I have been working with since I went to my first mosaics workshop at Rufford Abbey, in Nottinghamshire over 10 years ago. I have been running my own mosaics workshops and been involved in community projects since November 2017, and I was commissioned to create a company logo in December 2018.
I am inspired by Gaudi, neo-classicism and the pre-Raphaelites, art deco and modernist art; as well as the natural world. I love introducing light into my work, so I use a lot of glass and mirrored materials. Overall, I am a fun maker and creative, with a relaxed approach.
My workshops are always relaxed, fun & friendly; and allow students the opportunity and space to nurture and explore their creative juices. I have an organic approach, providing a wide range of bases, i.e. wooden boards in a choice of sizes, mirrors & terracotta pots; and mosaic materials, i.e. vitreous tiles, broken china, beads, gems, shells, buttons, millefiori pieces and glass & mirrored pieces. From taster workshops for absolute beginners, to accommodating more experienced artists. I tend to use the direct method in my mosaics & workshops, but I'm open to exploring other styles and applications.
As an experienced workshop facilitator (of over 10 years, working with a diverse range of people, in a variety of settings), I am available to host workshops for up to 12 people (terms negotiable), as well as provide all of the tools and materials. I am always on hand to offer advice, encouragement and creative inspiration! I am also available for commissions and community projects - and I’m open to offers, get in touch. I can also run wet felting workshops. I'm confident that Sarah Camplin Mosaics can meet your creative needs.
